View Around the world in 80 days! on Harryandamanda's travel map.
Today was our last full day in Salzburg; we got up around 9:30 and slowly got ready for the day. Before heading out we did a little research on a place to eat for breakfast and found two options: Café Sacher or Café Bazar, the two cafes were right next to each other, so we headed into café Bazar. It was a nice café, but there was only one waitress for at least 30 tables, so it was impossible to order our food, finally when we did order we both ordered some scrambled eggs on toast with some fresh apple and orange juice.
After we ate we sat there for a while using their wifi and having a tea and espresso as well. We researched things to do for today which we already had a slight idea, then we had a look into Munich and what we want to get done there. Amanda last night found a really good tour we can do from Munich that goes to Neuschweinstein castle and has all these really great activities involved in it, such as paragliding over the castle, something I really want to do. We found all sorts of things we want to do in Munich, as well as the Bayern Munich football game that we have tickets to. We are both really excited for Munich.
After some research and relaxing in the café we did our first sight seeing for the day around 11:30am. We saw the birthplace of Mozart, surprisingly had a decent exhibition there. The Museum was in the house Mozart lived in for 22 years, as we walked around we saw things such as his personal violin and piano, personal letters from him to his wife and a lock of his hair. After the museum we started to walk to the cable car that takes you up to the fortress.
As we started to walk we took out the iPad to check where we are and if we are heading in the right direction, but the map wasn’t loading, we could see the fortress as we were walking so we just kind of headed for that. As we are walking Amanda really needed to use the toilet, so we were looking for a place but just ended up in a restaurant getting a beer and coke so Amanda can use the toilet. After our beverages we started our walk to the fortress again, while doing so we got lost.
We found a hotel that gave us a Map and sense of direction, we finally found our way to the cable car, and headed up to the fortress. Once up the top, there was a great view of Salzburg, you could see the whole town from up there. We looked around at the Castle for a bit, looking at different views, the best thing about it all was the view, after we headed back down into the town.
We then hunted around for a place to find some food for lunch, we found restaurant K.K, and it was right near our hotel, which was good. After lunch the plan was to go up the mountain Unterberg, but while having a look on the iPad we discovered it was actually closed due to maintenance. The news sucked a bit, I was really looking forward to going up there and being in the snow as well, (it was all harry could talk about all day was going up there!!) but as it was closed it meant that the rest of the day was freed up.
For lunch Amanda got the pumpkin soup and I got the deep fried chicken with potatoes and salad, the salad had little bacon bits in it and a really good dressing, it was delicious. While eating and waiting for food, we searched the iPad on what to do, we thought about the Zoo but last admission was an hour before the park closed, and we could not make it in time. Already having walked around the city millions of times we headed back to the room to chill for an hour and thought if we have a bit of time why not go and do some laundry!
So right now we are at the laundry mat and there is about 20 minutes left to go until the clothes are dried, then we will head back and grab some dinner and maybe go to bed early as we want to leave for Munich in the morning. The train to Munich is only an hour and a half so not long at all. We plan to get to Munich early, drop off our bags at the hotel and then go see some sights of the Main town. Looking forward to Munich and hopefully paragliding over the castle!!
